At Haughmond Schools, the school day is designed to create a balanced and enriching environment for our pupils. The day typically begins with welcoming routines that help children transition into a learning mindset. Throughout the day, pupils engage in a variety of academic lessons, collaborative activities and opportunities for creative expression.
Dedicated breaks are woven into the schedule, allowing children to recharge and socialise. Additionally, our staff prioritises not just academic growth but also the development of social skills and emotional well-being, ensuring a holistic approach to education. We believe that every aspect of the school day contributes to the overall growth and success of our pupils.

- Monday – Thursday 8am – 4:30pm
- Friday 8am – 4pm

- 8:40am – 3:10pm – HJS
- 8:45am – 3:15pm – SISN
- School gates open at 8:30am for all pupils. HJS pupils’ day starts at 8:40am and SISN pupils’ day starts at 8:45am. If your child is not in school by 8:50am (HJS) or 8:55am (SISN), they should report to the main office and will be marked as late.

The 32.5 hour minimum expectation includes the time in each day from the official start of the school day (i.e. morning registration) to the official end of the compulsory school day (i.e. official home time). The 32.5 hour minimum includes lunch times and other breaks as well as teaching time and any enrichment activities that all pupils are expected to attend. It does not include optional before or after school provision
