Our Geography curriculum allows our children to consider the world around them in a variety of ways. Building on prior learning, children will deepen their understanding of local, national, and international Geography. Access a range of primary and secondary resources, enhance their map reading and navigation skills and broaden understanding of the differences between human and physical landscape features. All children will be taught a high-quality, carefully sequenced curriculum which will enable them to become knowledgeable and enthusiastic geographers.

Implementation

Our children will be exposed to local and international Geography through high-quality, sequenced lessons. Local Geography will involve fieldwork and problem-solving skills, and a range of primary and secondary resources will allow children to research and study different forms of Geography from around the world. All learning will build on previous learning to ensure that all concepts are secure and understood and misconceptions can be shared, valued, and acted upon. In our classrooms, our children will be able to work collaboratively to ensure they are able to discuss their ideas and knowledge. They will also respond to a range of questions and other formative strategies to embed their learning and make links to new learning of various geographical concepts.

Impact

Our children will feel valued and included in all our Geography lessons and all activities are differentiated to meet the needs of our pupils. As such, all pupils will develop their knowledge understanding of all forms of local, national and international Geography and will obtain knowledge and understanding of the array of Geographical features and skills. Our children will be able to explain, through a range of practical and informal activities, the necessary geographical concepts and display both their substantive and disciplinary knowledge for each topic within the curriculum. Furthermore, such knowledge and skills will promote curiosity and questioning about the world around them shaping their futures.
